Artist Statement

Through my art, I journey through a world of rigid formality, open to the unlimited stimuli that unconsciously define origins and destinations of daily life. The process of my creating each painting or drawing is a distillation of that journey not unlike dreams. One mark at a time, I construct the framework that reveals the answers to questions that arise from my practice. My target in this ever changing landscape is an expression of individual diversity within social density.

My paintings, drawings and collages reference mythos contextualized by historical and contemporary sociology. My current work explores the influence archetypes have on this creative approach while offering a reflection of the totality of myself. My current painting series entitled “Cyclops Hunting” is a metaphor for the pursuit of happiness.  By way of conveying the inward journey, externally, I am mapping the landscape of the Psyche on a traverse through tangible substratum and concepts.

In this world there are many giants with great powers. Some of these giants have the power to bemuse as they forge the mechanisms used to navigate the ship. And the course has been plotted into the abyss. And this ship is going down. Business as usual ensures the course will be kept. Therefore I am gone.
